Summer is here! The summer flowers are popping OFF right now, and it's an exciting time. Some of my favorite summer flowers include dahlias, cosmos, and foxglove, and right now all three are blooming! Below you can see pink dahlias, sweet peas, cosmos, foxglove, clary sage, and orlaya all from the farm.

The highlight of summer in Seattle? Dahlias, of course! They are so dreamy and come in all kinds of shapes, sizes, and colors. These are just a few of the varieties blooming right now. We are still waiting on many more!

Cosmos are also quintessential summer flowers. Their dainty, delicate petals are wonderful floating above arrangements. I was not sure if I would like cosmos "rubenza," the magenta variety below, but they are stunning! Cosmos "apricot lemonade" and classic white varieties are always winners for wedding design work, too.

The sweet peas continue to grow and blossom. These stems are so long! Such a wonderful addition to summer bouquets. Sweet peas also come in a stunning variety of colors, and I'm only growing a few purples, pinks, and whites. I find that these are the most commonly used colors in my design work.

Some other summer flower treasures include godetia, two kinds of foxglove, orlaya, and clary sage. The orlaya was grown from seed sown in the field, so it's taken a long time to bloom. In future years, I think I'd try to start it in the greenhouse.

Soon to be cut: baby purple artichokes, purple bean pods, and scabiosa. So many gorgeous summer flowers!! I can't wait to share them with you! You can always get in on the flower CSA to see some of these blooms in your home every week. This is the time of year where my CSA customers are really getting spoiled!
